Why I Adopted Whiskey

Yesterday was the 3rd anniversary of the day I adopted Whiskey and I can hardly believe it's only been three years.

I can't remember what it was like before he was around.
Looking out the office window, 24 stories up (Summer 2009)
He was so small and scraggly when I first got him, with his sunken in cheeks and piano key ribs.

Summer 2009
He was a big dog trapped in a small dog body.

Despite originally being from a shelter in Ohio, he has officially become a little Canadian dog.

November 2009
Life with him has brought on many changes, like having to check under pillows and throws before I sit down.

Summer 2010

and with his "dad" :)

Summer 2010
He loves naps on the couch (which they are not supposed to do.)

Christmas 2010
and cuddling up by a Christmas fire.

Fall 2011
He loves car trips...as they usually lead to another adventure.

He is always ready for a walk around the park.

Summer 2011
... especially when someone exciting is at the other end.

Winter 2010
...and even when he is just a pillow for Shadow. Can you tell how much they love each other?

Summer 2009
He's been to the Atlantic Ocean in Maine.

Summer 2009
...and sat atop a historic cannon in Quebec City.

Spring 2012
He has frolicked in the fields

Spring 2011 - with Garrett's grandmother
and has eaten many a TimBit donut.

Christmas 2011
He has watched his first Santa Claus parade.

Winter 2012
and nursed a few small injuries :(

November 2009
He has become an expert at attacking toes and pant legs...

Christmas 2011

Winter 2012
....as well as toy bugs.

Fall 2011
Warm laundry is deemed an appropriate napping location.

Fall 2011
He has made it known that he is the official watch dog of the woods near our house. Squirrels beware.

December 2009
...and shown me the importance of a post-walk nap in a sunbeam.

Winter 2012
He's enjoyed the soft feeling a newly made dog bed.

...but found it is even nicer to test out the new pillow covers.

He's had a stocking for our first Christmas together.

Christmas 2009

Spring 2011
He has worn bling.

Halloween 2010

Halloween 2009
 ....a taco.

Halloween 2011
...a rocket.

Christmas 2011
 and a bow tie.

Winter 2010
He has been given the nickname "The Tatertot" for being the world's smallest couch potato.

Summer 2010
...and shown me what happens to my nightime glass of water at my parents' house.

Summer 2011
He has "helped" in the kitchen when I've dropped some Perfectly Popped Stovetop Popcorn.

Thanksgiving 2010
...and been an inspector for this 27 lb Thanksgiving turkey. (He is only 11 lbs himself!)

Fall 2010
He has been nicknamed "The Pretzel" for his ability to fold into impossibly difficult positions.

Christmas 2011
 Or maybe a kangaroo?

Winter 2011
He has braved 3 long Canadian winters.

Winter 2010

Winter 2010

Winter 2012
Now he is a bit better with the new winter coat my mama made him.

He has been the best little dog a girl could hope for and I look forward to more years of adventures together. Happy "Birthday" little buddy :)
