I love getting to spend some time out on our porch.
Plus I am planning a bike ride over to the community garden to plant some chives and basil my mom gave me.
Of course we'll be hitting up the always awesome Farmer's Market. I've got Kale Chips on the brain again.
However, this Saturday I have to be extra quiet because Garrett is sleeping during part of the day....which means CRAFT TIME!
I took a look through my Pinterest account last night to get inspired by some of the things I have pinned and forgotten about.
Ribbon Paper Plate for Cookies - We're heading to BBQ this week and this would be a great way to take some cookies. It means I don't have to wait for my dish to be cleared to take it back and it gives a little bit of decoration to a simple paper plate.
Sparkly Headband - My mom used to make us headbands like this (and bracelets too!) when I was a kid. She just made some like this for my littlest cousin last fall and I forgot how simple they really are to make. Perfect for keeping my bangs back on days when they are just not working with me.
ShrinkyDinks Dog Tags - I've tried this a couple of times, but mine have never turned out as good as Martha's. I still have all the supplies, so maybe I'll give it another go this weekend.
Rope-Wrapped Containers - I have plenty of jute rope leftover from the mason jars I decorated for the Wedding Flowers I did last month. Maybe I could raid the recycling bin and make some new containers for the washroom!
Painted Keys - I have many many keys on my key chain and this would be a nice way to differtiate some of them. It gives them that look of custom keys, but without having to spend any money - just use what nail polishes you have lying around! It's even easy enough to swap out colours for the seasons, just use a bit of nail polish remover.
Fabric Keychain - And if I have newly painted keys, they deserve a new key chain, right? I've been rocking the same red leather goldfish keychain my sister gave me 5 years ago for my birthday. Time to spice it up with a new addition. And I like that this will make it easier for me to carry my keys up to the house when I have a bazillion grocery bags on my arms. (I always do it in one trip...no matter what)
Sewing Machine Cover - I really need to make this. My machine still lives in it's original box, tucked in under our end table. This great tutorial has a pocket on the end (good spot to put the pedal or any pieces!), but I would also like to add some interfacing to make it sturdier and maybe even a handle for the top to make it easier to remove.
Vintage Wood Signs - I love the look of worn out old wood signs. I even have a piece of beat up lumber in the closet, just waiting to be made into something.
A Quilt - Now obviously this isn't a weekend craft, but it is something that has always been on my "Someday List". It reminds me of the quilts my great aunt has - softened with time, but still colourful.
Time to dig out the sewing machine, glue gun and tools! I plan to open up all the windows in the dining room, let the light in and get creative :)
